Plastic Injection Molded Polypropylene Float Assembly for the Agriculture Industry
The project highlighted here was designed for use as a float assembly. Used in an agricultural irrigation system, it serves to eliminate air hammering within the system. Acting as a shut-off valve, it allows all the air in the lines to escape before the float rises, shutting off the flow.
This product utilizes a foaming agent for buoyancy to achieve the .064 specific gravity. Obtaining this specification in such a thick part (.260″) requires extra process control.
The 10.00 oz. shot was injected into a 4 cavity mold, with 220 tons of clamping force. Our advanced processes allowed us to achieve all of the goals for weight and tolerances, including dimensions of 1.90″ in length and width, 4.25″ in height, and weight of 4.90 oz. This ongoing project consists of production runs of 500 pieces per month. For more information see the table below or contact us directly.
